Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam called as Ooty is located in the Nilgris district of Tamil Nadu . It is the most popular hill station located in the Nilgris district. It is 80 kms north from the district of Coimbatore . It’s also known as Queen of Hills .
The world famous Ooty Summer Festival – 2020 is held annually in the Queen of Hills – Ooty during the month of May. The Summer Festival which includes flower show, fruit show, vegetable show, rose show and spice show, attracts a huge number of tourists to Ooty. Different verities of flowers, fruits and vegetables, and several images of animals and birds decorated with flowers are displayed during the Summer Festival to provide a visual treat to the tourists.
Ooty Flower show dates is on May 15th to 19th May 2020. Seeing this on news channels reminded me of my visit to Ooty flower show on the year 2015 .
You can book the tickets online directly from horticulture department website or also you can get the ticket on the counter, be prepared for long queue. The tickets per adults was Rs 40 and for kids above 5 years was Rs 20 (May 2015).
Approximately 15,000 potted plant on display, cultural activity & music’s, around 3,00,000 flower saplings of over 150 types out of 52 varieties.
4 to 5 hrs, minimum half day required, tickets is valid for full day.
Vehicles will be stopped 1 km before the garden, so prepare to walk a bit to reach the spot.
We were lucky enough to witness the flower show on May 19th 2015 with my daughters family it was a visual treat to see flowers of different types and colours . Happy to share the pictures .
