During our one day trip on sri Rama Navami somehow we missed this Sri Pundareega Varadaraja Perumal temple .
This temple is in Bukkathurai near Uthiramerur and is about 35 kms from Chennai.
So we decided to go on a day without knowing it was thiruvathirai star day .
When we went the temple gate was closed before we could get down of the car saw a snake passing by , bit scared to get down saw the priest and his son(6-7 years) accompanying him with milk and flowers for the pooja rituals .
We got down the car and followed them and said about the snake , the priest told us today is Sri Ramanujar jayanthi he has given you dharshan in Adhiseshan roop .
This temple seemed to be an ancient one . The main deity is Sri Pundareeka Varadaraja Perumal .
There were seperate shrines for Goddess Andal , Lord Hanuman and Garudan .
The backside pillars of the main sanctum sanctorum were carved with Lord krishna and Lord Lakshmi Varaghar .
The temple is well protected with compound wall and gate . The pradhakshanam path was vast . No pond was found near the temple .
The priest was new so he dint know about the sthalapuranam about this temple and was in a hurry preparing for the thirumanjanam of Sri Ramanujar. He said he was in Kooram (a village near Kanchipuram) temple just 15 days back he came to this temple . After doing archana we came with the blessings of Lord Pundareega Varadarajar and Sri Ramanujar.
